Joseph W. Townley, M.D., a Board Certified comprehensive Ophthalmologist, has been in private practice since 1993. An Omaha native from a family of health professionals, Dr. Townley attended Creighton Prep, Creighton University, and Creighton University School of Medicine. He performed his Internship at the Mayo Clinic and finished his Ophthalmology training at The University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Dr. Townley is a comprehensive Ophthalmologist dedicated to providing a personalized approach to the medical and surgical management of a wide range of ocular disease in patients of all ages. Dr. Townley has a special emphasis in cataract surgery, being one of the first in the area to offer “no stitch, no shot, micro incision cataract surgery and multifocal lens implants.”
The scope of his practice includes laser vision correction (LASIK), cataract surgery,glaucoma surgery and eyelid surgery. He continues to invest in the latest knowledge, technology and procedural advances in order to offer the highest level of care to his patients.
His philosophy of leading edge and compassionate care extends beyond his practice. He continues to provide volunteer medical and surgical eye care here in Nebraska and throughout the world.
He volunteers his time at both Creighton University Medical Center and the University of Nebraska Medical Center educating student and resident physicians in the practice of medicine.
Dr. Townley is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The Nebraska Medical Association, The Metro Omaha Medical Society and the Omaha Eye Society.
Dr. Townley and his wife Karla have five children with whom he spends his free time.
